Russian-born man charged with two alleged visa breaches in WA

A Russian-born man is set to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today (23 July, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with a condition of his Commonwealth visa.

The AFP arrested and charged the man, 28, yesterday (22 July, 2024), after locating him in Perth.

It will be alleged the man breached a condition of his Commonwealth visa on 5 July and 7 July, 2024, by going within 200m of a school, childcare centre or daycare centre.

The man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with a requirement of his bridging visa, contrary to section 76DAB(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

The offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
