Iranian-born man charged with alleged visa breach in WA

An Iranian-born man is expected to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today (Thursday 6 June, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated curfew.

The AFP charged the man, 29, yesterday (Wednesday 5 June, 2024) after locating him in Perth.

It will be alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on Monday 3 June, 2024, by failing to observe his residential curfew obligations.

The man has been charged with:

  • One count of failing to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C (1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
