Iran-born man charged with an alleged visa breach in NSW

An Iran-born man has appeared before Fairfield Local Court today (3 September, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated curfew conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 36, today after he was located in Sydney, NSW.

It will be alleged the man breached one of the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on Sunday, 1 September, 2024 by failing to comply with a curfew condition.

The man was charged with:

  • One count of failing to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine for each offence.

The man is next listed to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on 25 September, 2024.
