Tasmanian man charged with providing false or misleading information

This is a joint media release between the Australian Federal Police and Tasmania Police

A 41-year-old Tasmanian man with links to Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs faced court in Hobart yesterday (28 July 2021) after being charged by the Australian Federal Police with providing false or misleading information.

Police allege the 41-year-old purchased a luxury motor vehicle through a loan obtained using false and misleading information, contrary to section 136 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Funding Act 2006.

The Tasmanian National Anti-Gangs Squad (NAGS) yesterday (Wednesday, 28 July 2021) conducted search warrants at premises in Glenorchy, Derwent Park and Mowbray, Tasmania.

Police allegedly found documentation, as well as a number of emails and PDF files, relating to the loan obtained for the luxury motor vehicle. During the search warrants police seized an $80,000 luxury motor vehicle.

The man was granted bail. He is expected to appear in court again on 30 September 2021.
