Sudan-born man charged with alleged visa breach in WA

A Sudan-born man is scheduled to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today (7 November, 2025) for allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.

It will be alleged the man, 34, breached a condition of his Commonwealth visa multiple times between 1 September, 2025, and 13 October, 2025, by failing to keep the battery of an electronic monitoring device charged.

The AFP served the court summons on 5 November, 2025, for one count of failing to maintain a monitoring device, contrary to section 76D(3) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

The maximum penalty for this offence is five years’ imprisonment and/or a $99,000 fine.
