Police arrest man for baggage theft
Friday, 20 March 2009
A 50-year-old man, believed to be from Victoria, has been arrested for the theft of baggage from the domestic arrivals carousel at Adelaide Airport.
The investigation began on 17 March 2009, when an airline employee referred a case of suspected baggage theft to the Australian Federal Police, stationed at the airport.
A collaborative effort between the airport, airline and police has resulted in the man’s arrest yesterday (19 March 2009).
The man is due to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court today, charged with four counts of theft of a passenger’s luggage, contrary to section 134 of the Criminal Law Consolidation Act (South Australia) 1935.
The maximum penalty for this offence is 10 years imprisonment.
